A word from the author

The Chaparral Snowmobile Site was created in the late '90s when I found a pair of Chaparral snowmobiles in my grandfather's shed. It was a joy to bring the two sleds back to life, and what I learned in the process I applied to an amatuer snocross racing effort (Arctic Cat, then Ski-Doo).

I sold my Chaparral snowmobiles in the mid 2000s and expanded my racing resume to include hillcross and watercross. In the early 2010s, a few racing friends and I formed the SledFooters group to entertain crowds at the Three Lakes Shootout - pulling skiers, kneeboarders and barefooters behind our sleds.

Because The Chaparral Snowmobile Site still gets a fair amount of trafic, I'll keep hosting it, both as a minor contribution to the vintage community, and as a somewhat comical example of early web design and programming (yes, it's aweful by today's standards!).
